Now Accepting Nominations for 2022-2024 Term, Oct. 1-29

The U.S. Melges 24 Class Association (USM24CA) is currently accepting nominations for electing Executive Committee members for the 2022-2024 term. The nomination period will close on Friday, October 29 at midnight ET. The USM24CA Executive Committee includes the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Technical Committee Chairman.

Call for Charters for 2022 Worlds

The U.S. Melges 24 Class is actively seeking any used boats that are available for sale or charter, in particular for the forthcoming 2022 Melges 24 World Championship. For a limited time, you can advertise your boat as available for charter, or used boat for sale online at the U.S. Class website FREE OF CHARGE. IM24CA Announces Venue & Dates for 2022 Worlds

After two years hiatus in the schedule of the Melges 24 World Championships, the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA) is hopeful to welcome Melges 24 fleet for the Melges 24 World Championship 2022 to be hosted by the Lauderdale Yacht Club, Fort Lauderdale, USA in co-operation with U.S. Melges 24 Class Association on May 9-15.

2021 Bushwhacker Cup / Atlantic Coast & Gulf Coast Championship, November 12-14

Pensacola Yacht Club (PYC)’s Bushwhacker Cup now includes Melges 24 Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast Championships on November 12-14. The Bushwhacker Cup is also the final event on the 2021 Melges 24 National Ranking Series. PYC is providing a month’s free trailer parking through to the Bushwhacker Cup for Melges 24’s also entered in the WFORC. Free trailer parking is also available for a layover before heading to South Florida for the Bacardi Winter Series.

& Invitational Cup

The next Bacardi Cup Winter racing Series is on the horizon. Save the dates and register now! Bacardi Winter Series Event 1 is 18-19 December, and Event 2 is 28-30 January 2022. Competition will be fierce as teams make their assault on the leader board, ahead of the series finale at the Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta on 9-12 March 2022.

Porter Wins Record-Setting Eight U.S. Nationals Title,
Dow Crowned Corinthian National Champion

After three days and eight races, former World Champion Brian Porter on Full Throttle gained his eighth National Championship title, a monumental achievement in the very competitive Melges 24 Class. In the Corinthian Division, Mike Dow on Flying Toaster came out on top after a fierce battle with Scot Zimmerman on Bad Idea in second place, and Fred Rozelle’s Rustler in third.

Dow Wins 2021 Quantum Melges 24 Great Lakes Cup

A massive congrats goes out to 2021 Quantum Melges 24 Great Lakes Cup Champion Mike Dow racing Flying Toaster. The Cup Series consisted of four events — Spring Championship (May), Grand Traverse Invite (August), U.S. Nationals (September) and the Fall Championship (October). Fred Rozelle’s Rustler finished the Series in second overall, followed by Scot Zimmerman’s Bad Idea in third.

Gulari in Leads on Homestretch
of 2021 U.S. Class National Ranking Series

With 9 of 10 events now completed, the 2021 National Ranking Series has all eyes on Pensacola as the Bushwhacker Cup, also serving as the Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast Championship is less than one month away. Taking place on November 12-14, Bora Gulari on New England Ropes is the Series leader going into the final event.

Fargo Wins Melges 24 West Coast Championship 2021 Series

Congratulations to USA-856 owner helmed by Geoff Fargo of Santa Barbara, California with Jon Bell (trim), Graham Bell (bow) and Bill Gullfoyle (strategist), captured the 2021 West Coast Championship Series title over second place Manfred Schmiedl’s Brio, also of Santa Barbara. The Santa Cruz leg of the West Coast Championship Series has come to be known as the “Cal Cup” and at the trophy presentation, event chair Dave Collignon unveiled a new perpetual trophy. Fargo, as well as all prior winners will be engraved on the large sterling trophy to be awarded annually.

Dow Crowned King of the North with Victory at GTYC Invite

Participation was strong with 21 boats on the starting at the 2021 Grand Traverse Invitational held in mid-August. After eight races and no throw outs, Mike Dow and his Flying Toaster team took the Regatta, with Fred Rozelle’s Rustler and Scot Zimmerman’s Bad Idea finishing second and third, respectively.
