CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL
The Melges 15 Class hosted the first-ever National Championship at Lake Geneva Yacht Club September 17-19. Emily and John Haig (Beach Haven, NJ) bested a fleet of 31 boats for the inaugural championship finishing ahead of second-place Toby and Peter Sullivan (Minneapolis–Saint Paul, MN) and third-place Mike Schroff and Emily Shandley-Roberts (Chicago, IL).

SKEETA & NIKKI
TAKING OFF IN THE WINDY CITY
The US SailGP Team introduced Chicago youth sailors to foiling onboard the Melges-supplied Skeeta and Nikki in September. “I’ve never been on a rocket ship, but if I was on one, I feel like that was my speed,” said Charlotte Harris after trying foiling for the first time.

MELGES E SCOW
QUANTUM SAILS DOUBLE DOWN AT NATIONALS
With 70 boats on Torch Lake, MI, winning the Nationals was no easy feat. Congratulations to I-1 Harry Melges IV, Finn Rowe, Ripley Shelley, and Severin Gramm! This was the team’s second National Championship title powered by Quantum Sails after winning the 2020 Nationals in New Jersey earlier this summer.

BIG BREEZE FOR BLUE CHIP 
This year’s Blue Chip mystery guests were 470 Olympian Lara Dallman-Weiss and US Sailing Team Executive Director Paul Cayard. Taking the crown in the big breeze series of seven races was Eddie Cox’s I-66 with Finn Rowe, Ripley Shelley, and Molly Ziegler powered by Quantum Sails.

MELGES 24
FULL THROTTLE WINS RECORD-SETTING EIGHTH CHAMPIONSHIP
After three days and eight races, Brian Porter’s Full Throttle acquired their eighth National Championship title powered by Quantum Sails, a monumental achievement in the very competitive U.S. Melges 24 Class. In the Corinthian Division, Mike Dow on Flying Toaster came out on top after a fierce battle with Scot Zimmerman on Bad Idea.

MELGINA & WHITE ROOM WIN EUROPEAN SAILING SERIES
The 2021 Melges 24 European Sailing Series concludes in Trieste, ITA after the earlier events held in Malcesine and Riva del Garda and Melges 24 Europeans in Slovenia with a total of fifty-one teams from fifteen nations that joined the circuit this season. Paolo Brescia’s Melgina, from Italy, is the overall winner of the 2021 edition while German Michael Tarabochia’s White Room secured the victory in the Corinthian division.

MEASURING SUCCESS
New Quantum Sails have been winning many fall championships. Congratulations to Marek Valasek for winning the Blue Chip with his brand new Quantum Speed Sail. The Quantum Speed Sail is designed for all singlehanded sailing in breeze. It can be used as an all-purpose sail for lighter sailors too. Kurt Stadele won the MC Southerns with his Quantum Sails Powerzone. BACK-TO-BACK BRONTOLO
The end of a tight battle only concluded with the very last race of the series, the Melges 20 European Champion responds once again to the name of Brontolo by Filippo Pacinotti, followed by Russian Bogatyrs and Fremito d’Arja. The rookie Team Bianca is the new European Champion in the Corinthian division.

MELGES 14
US NATIONALS
Eddie Cox won the 2021 Melges 14 National Championship held October 2-3 on Lake Lanier in Georgia. Cox was followed by Dirk Richter in second and Dan McGraw in third.

EUROCUP
At the Melges 14 Eurocup in Santa Marinella, there was one indisputable leader, Giampiero Poggi, winner of all the three races completed. Poggi was followed on the podium by Alessio Muciaccia and Mario Aquila.
