Message from the Hon Robert Montague, CD, MP
Jamaica’s Minister of Transport and Mining
On this World Maritime Day, organised by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) under the theme: “Seafarers: at the core of shipping’s future,” I laud the professionalism, commitment and resilience of seafarers, male and female – both Jamaicans and other nationalities.
In our message of July 28, 2021, we informed the market that we are working to sell a few ships and to buy some ships. For your easy reference, the message of July 28 is enclosed.
Not since Quantum Key West Race Week in 2014 has a 52 SUPER SERIES team opened a regatta with three back-to-back race wins, but Andy Soriano’s Alegre team matched the record of Quantum Racing today when they took both winning guns in breezy conditions at the Menorca 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week to complement their first day victory Tuesday.
Welcome to the September 2021 PEMSEA e-update. PEMSEA would like to share two discussion papers, one on the current status of biofouling management and issues related to invasive aquatic species (IAS) in the East Asian Seas (EAS) region, and one on the current situation and expected future pathways for maritime shipping-related greenhouse gas emissions in East Asia. This month, bilateral meetings were held with the Philippines and Viet Nam for the Blue Solutions project. Please also join us in several East Asian Seas Congress (EASC) collabs on marine protected areas management and climate change adaptation in October. In between newsletters, follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter (@PEMSEA) for the latest updates.
