Ever Given: Suez Canal Authority to seek $1 billion compensation

Preparing to put in $1 billion bill, Suez Canal Authority chairman says cargo on Ever Given was worth $3.5 billion and “we already saved a lot of money for them  by ending the problem without losses of the cargo or the ship.”

Mystery of the shrinking ferry

When a ferry operated for Canada’s BC Ferries it had a length of 114 meters and a gross tonnage of 5,011 gt. Now ITF inspectors believe that Fiji company that bought it in 2015 registered it at 14 meters shorter and with a lower gross tonnage, enabling it to operate with smaller crew and fewer drydockings.
