We are thrilled to confirm that two residents of the Elephant Boatyard have been nominated for this year’s Classic Boat Magazine Awards:

Mustang of Christchurch, a 29ft classic yacht lovingly restored here at the Elephant last year, has been nominated for Best Restoration of the Year < 40ft Award.

Thalia, an 1889 gaff cutter, has been nominated for Centenarian of the Year Award.

The winner of each award is determined by a public vote. Please place your vote by clicking on the link below:

Beautifully restored, and with her tan sails, deep mahogany interior and elegant lines, Mustang of Christchurch truly captures the spirit of this era of classic boatbuilding.

In case you missed our Christmas newsletter, Mustang had a whole raft of restoration work completed both inside and out – see the photos below. She is a great example of the variety of restoration work that we can do here at the Elephant Boatyard.
She was initially completely stripped, with every inch of paint and varnish removed both inside and out. Various repairs to the hull and woodwork followed, as well as joinery modifications to improve her layout and functionality. All done whilst preserving her traditional aesthetics.  We then built up her varnish and paintwork to a fine finish and concluded with a complete refit of her plumbing, electrics and electronics systems to bring her comfortably into the 21st century.

We are a family business with the enthusiasm and expertise to build & restore beautiful boats. If you have a project you would like to discuss, no matter how big or small, please do give us a call on 02380 403268.
