Star sailors and over 50 boats depart Cascais as Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy begins

Saturday 27 June 2020, Lisbon, Portugal The Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy has begun in light wind conditions, as competitors across three classes race two legs between Cascais and Sesimbra hoping to take home the prize pool of over €30,000. The event is being held to raise awareness and important funds for marine conservation programmes.
Organised in partnership with the Clube Naval de Cascais, the Sailing Trophy is the first event of its kind, as the offshore racing world takes its first steps back into the water, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

My hobby was to work with old trawlers, tugs and small passenger ships. The hobby continued to grow and became a profession. A profession that has given me friends all over the world. Back then, almost 40 years ago, finding a small ship you had never seen before and get on board was a dream to me. After crawling around documenting several thousand smaller vessels and commercial boats, that interest has cooled down considerably.
