Metal Shark gets $20.6 million Navy award; MARAD: $19.6 million available for Small Shipyard Grants

March 8th, 2019 — Shipbuilder Metal Shark, Jeanerette, La., has been awarded a $20,628,477 delivery order under a previously awarded Navy contract for twelve 40-foot patrol boats, complete with basic boat equipment, shipping, long term preservation, boat familiarization, and crew original equipment manufacturer and waterjet training.

MARAD: $19.6 million available for Small Shipyard Grants

The grants are available “for capital and related improvements to qualified shipyard facilities that will be effective in fostering efficiency, competitive operations, and quality ship construction, repair, and reconfiguration.”

Eletson to retrofit Wärtsilä BWMS fleetwide

A total of 23 product, oil, chemical, and LPG carriers in the Eletson fleet will be retrofitted with up to 69 Wärtsilä BWMS units. They will including both the Aquarius UV (ultra-violet) and Aquarius EC (electro-chlorination) systems.
