MAD dredge to have Wärtsilä equipment package
May 31, 2018 — Wärtsilä is to provide the engines, propellers, and control system for a Marine Aggregate Dredge (MAD) 3500 ordered from Damen Shipyards earlier this year by Cemex UK. The 103 m long, 4,975 gt hopper dredge, which will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati, is designed to extract sand and gravel from the seabed up to depths of 55 m, including in the challenging conditions in the North Sea.
