27th April 2018: With the Royal Varuna Yacht Club to the North, Royal Thai Navy and Yacht Racing Assoc of Thailand (YRAT) to the South, it’s no coincidence that when Ocean Marina Yacht Club hold a regatta, the best of the best Thai sailors, come together to compete on home waters. This region is renown for breeding Olympic, World, National, regional champions and the award-winning Top of the Gulf Regatta provides another opportunity for these sailors to hone their skills, against top-level International competitors in all classes. Anything from Optimist, 420, 470, Laser dinghy’s, IOM Radio Controlled boats, kite surfers, one design Platu 25’s, to grand prix keelboats and multihull’s, are ready for battle at Asia’s largest multi-class regatta and give a boost to Greater Pattaya’s multi-million Baht, sport tourism industry.

50 Percent CO2 Cut by 2050 – Governments Must Acknowledge Enormity of Historic IMO Agreement

Speaking today (26 April) at Singapore Maritime Week, the Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Esben Poulsson, said the adoption by the UN International Maritime Organization (IMO) of a comprehensive strategy to phase-out shipping’s greenhouse gases “should be more than sufficient to discourage those who mistakenly advocate regional measures which would greatly damage global trade and would not be effective in helping shipping to further reduce its total CO2 emissions.”

April 26, 2018 – Portoroz, Slovenia – After the 2018 season opener in Punta Ala in March, the international Melges 24 fleet gets back on the water – this time moving to the Adriatic Sea and benefiting from the wonderful hospitality of Yacht Club Marina Portoroz, where from April 27th to 29th the second event of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2018 will be raced, in coincidence with the Alpe Adria Cup.

Alegre Go Fast Forward

(Wednesday 25th April, 2018) – Christened in Valencia on Tuesday Andy Soriano’s new TP52, Alegre, represents a key component in the team’s drive to find a new, higher and more consistent level of performance on the 52 SUPER SERIES. Even though they had a disappointing 2017 season, badly compromised after their mast broke during the Porto Cervo, Sardinia regatta, Soriano’s passion and drive remains undimmed, as his desire to continue to keep getting better. Rather than remain down or disheartened with things last season, he rung changes and started planning for 2018, one of the first to commit to a new boat build.

World’s first Autodocking installation successfully tested by Wärtsilä

The technology group Wärtsilä has successfully carried out testing of its innovative autodocking technology. The tests were carried out with the ‘Folgefonn’, an 83-metre long ferry owned by leading Norwegian operator Norled. The vessel has hybrid propulsion and is already fitted with a Wärtsilä wireless charging system. The installation of autodocking on a ferry is a world first.

Maersk to trial Sea Machines AI based situational awareness technology
April 25, 2018 — Boston, MA, based Sea Machines Robotics reports that it has signed a contract with A.P. Moller-Maersk, of Copenhagen, Denmark, to trial its perception and situational awareness technology aboard one of the company’s new-build Winter Palace ice-class containerships. The installation marks the first time computer vision, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and perception software will be utilized aboard a container vessel to augment and upgrade transit operations.
