27th March 2018: Twenty nine yachts, in six classes will face the starters orders, at 1300hrs on Wednesday 28th, for the 29th running of the 565nm Rolex China Sea Race. Light Easterly breeze in Victoria Harbour to start with, then increasing to the low teens on the exit from Hong Kong and backing to NE, plus further increases as they cross the China Sea, are deemed favourable for the big boats to make a fast crossing. The usual wind shadow in the lee of Luzon and on the final approach to Subic Bay, could make or break a record run and play into the smaller boats favour in the handicap stakes.

2018 Melges 24 European Sailing Series: First Event in Punta Ala Goes to Andrea Racchelli’s Altea, Taki 4 Wins Among the Corinthians

March 25, 2018 – Punta Ala, Italy – The northerly wind Maestrale is the king in the last day of racing in Punta Ala, where the first event of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2018 has just come to an end. The Race Committee presided by PRO Alessandro Testa, with the logistical support of Yacht Club Punta Ala (YCPA), managed to make the fleet complete nine races, a full series that satisfied all the Melges 24 sailors and their hunger of wind after the long winter break.

Wärtsilä VOC recovery system can save tons of fuel each year for two new shuttle tankers

The tankers will feature a Wärtsilä VOC recovery module that will eliminate VOC emissions and enable notable fuel savings.

The technology group Wärtsilä will supply its Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) recovery technology, LNG fuel gas handling systems and the auxiliary engines for two new shuttle tankers being built for Singapore based AET Tankers at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea. The order, worth in total more than 30 MEUR, was booked in January 2018.

March 24, 2018 – Punta Ala, Italy – The Gulf of Follonica keeps satisfying the dynamic Melges 24 Fleet racing this weekend in the first act of the 2018 Melges 24 European Sailing Series. Also today, fifteen participating teams from six countries concluded three regattas, despite the massive wind shift that forced the Race Committee to replace the race course after race number one of the day.

Wärtsilä to ensure the continuous operations of Hidrovias Group’s pusher tugs in South American rivers

The technology group Wärtsilä and Girocantex Uruguay, a subsidiary of Hidrovias Group, have signed a 5-year Optimised Maintenance agreement on the fleet of eight pusher tugs operating in the challenging rivers of South America.
