Shell Marine books major COSCO Shipping marine lubricants order
December 6, 2017 — Shell Marine has been awarded China Ocean Shipping Group’s largest marine lubricants order of 2017. This order will include the full range of marine lubricants and technical services for seven of COSCO Shipping’s ten new generation Ultra Large Container Carriers (ULCCs). With capacities of approximately 20,000 TEU each, they were ordered in 2015 and are set to enter service from 2018-2019.

MOL plans to use LNG to fuel a coal carrier

Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) aims to move ahead with plans to use LNG to fuel a coal carrier. It reports that classification society Lloyd’s Register has given Approval in Principle (AIP) to a design for such a vessel jointly developed by MOL, Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. and Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

MAN Diesel & Turbo reports that its low-speed ME-GI (Gas Injection) and ME-LGI (Liquid Gas Injection) dual-fuel engines have registered a cumulative total of 100,000 operating hours.
