SEAHOUSES LIFEBOATS LAUNCHED TO INVESTIGATE OBJECT IN THE WATER OFF BAMBURGH

At 14.06hr on Friday 21st July 2017, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses All Weather Lifeboat, to the report from a member of the public of a white object in the sea off the Stag Rocks at Bamburgh. Seahouses Coastguard Rescue Team initially attended to try and identify the object, which a member of public was concerned may be a capsized yacht. Sea conditions were quite choppy, with a strengthening gusty easterly wind.

July 25, 2017 — Vroon B.V. christened its first subsea-support walk-to-work vessel in a ceremony held at the Damen Shiprepair shipyard in Amsterdam. The VOS Start will be delivered to MHI Vestas Offshore Wind in August, at the start of her first charter. She will provide offshore logistics support, accommodation and walk-to-work services during construction of the Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea.

July 26, 2017 — Classification society ABS has joined the Unmanned Cargo Ship Development Alliance. Recently launched in Shanghai, China, the group plans to have an unmanned cargo ship in the water by October 2021. The design will integrate features of independent decision-making, autonomous navigation, environmental perception and remote control.

Sled Win Two To Go Second

(Wednesday 26th July, Puerto Portals) – Takashi Okura’s Sled hauled themselves up to second place overall at Puerto Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week after winning both races on the Bay of Palma today. A pair of precision first leg laylines in a lifting breeze coupled to good starts proved the key as they completed a pair of wins, leading at every mark, a feat which has eluded them since 2014 when they won two races on the last day of the US Championship in Miami.
