Austal USA lays keel for EPF 8
March 30, 2016—Austal USA’s Mobile, AL, shipyard yesterday held a keel laying ceremony for the Expeditionary Fast Transport vessel Yuma (EPF 8). The ship is the eighth EPF built at Austal under the 10-ship, $1.6 billion block-buy contract awarded to Austal in 2008.

2016 Melges 24 European Sailing Series Will Kick Off This Weekend
March 30, 2016 – Porotoroz, Slovenia – Like one year ago, Yacht Club Portoroz together with Porotoroz Marina will host the first event of the world famous Melges 24 European Sailing Series initiated by the International Melges 24 Class Association. The event, valid also as the Melges 24 Open Slovenian National Championship and the first event of the Melges 24 Italian Sailing Series under the name of the Portoroz Melges 24 Regatta, will go underway the upcoming Friday and will end on Sunday (April 1-3), after a series of nine races with a discard that will enter in play after the conclusion of the fifth race.
Out of the boatyard and into the water for Safran
In the early hours of Wednesday, March 30, under some rain but with an obliging tide, Safran was launched back into the water in Port-la-Forêt. Soon after, the team set about stepping the wing mast, a tricky phase followed by adjusting the outriggers to allow the mast to work efficiently.
