Full to capacity GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series
The sixth event headed to Northampton Sailing Club for the Steve Nicholson Memorial Trophy, the third event in the series that was full to capacity and operating a waiting list. The single handers with 80 boats formed the largest fleet, and a record number on a start line at NSC. Local Phantom sailor Will Gulliver made the most of the traffic jams to win. In the Double Handed fleet, the Fireball of Ian Dobson and Dan Schreiber had a clean sweep with 2 bullets. The Asymetrics were won by Sam and John Knight in the RS400, amazingly Sam also managed 8th overall in the Single Handed fleet sailing an RS300 (due to the water size the fleets rotate, giving people the chance to sail multiple races in different boats). Northampton did a great job of managing the logistics and celebrating the life of member Stevie Nicholson, who tragically died at an early age. SailRacer were on hand with live coverage and GPS Tracking of the single handers.  More….

GJW Direct SailFest
SailRacer are delighted that the BMF British Sailing committee have designated GJW Direct SailFest as their BMF ‘On the Water’ event for 2015. SailFest is to take place over the late May Bank Holiday weekend, 23rd to 25th May, returning to Calshot Activities Centre on the edge of the New Forest.

The spirit of GJW SailFest is to promote fun and family activities, both on and off the water. The Devoti D-Ones and Rooster 4000s already have the event on their calendar so will enjoy big asymmetric courses in the Solent. This year sees the new addition of fun racing on the Calshot side of Southampton Water. Newly proficient or lapsed sailors are encouraged to come racing in a fun environment with the opportunity to mix with like-minded racers from other local clubs (or indeed further afield). Coaches and instructors will be on hand to point sailors in the right direction so no one feels out of their depth on the race-course. Watch this space for details of an exciting new Icon event

With high tides that weekend being in the afternoon, Calshot Creek will provide the ideal venue for tasters and trials of a number of watersports for beginners or those wanting to try a new hobby.     Register your interest

In recent years the event has seen the inclusion of Open Canoes (OC1) and Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP) with their own course just off the beach. GPS Tracking at your event
UK Number One for live GPS tracking

Since being appointed European Distributor for TackTracker, SailRacer has tracked over 1,000 races from Sail for Gold (Olympic and Paralympic Classes), World and Internationals (Dragons, 420 and 470s) National Championships (Dragon, J24s, Solos), International Qualifiers (420), and Windsurfers to club racing – plus a few specials like the Volvo Speed Challenge and Little Americas Cup. With our partners we have invested in over 400 GPS trackers and an ongoing development programme, that has seen live buoy by buoy scoring which captured the excitement and drama of the last race at the Dragon Edinburgh Cup, where five boats could have won and the championship going right down to the wire on the last leg. New dashboards specifically for Race and Safety Management are helping event organisers. GPS Tracking is a great way to increase interest and online spectators, from £20 per week per boat. Please contact Brenda Hoult to discuss your requirements.   More…
