Steamship Authority picks EBDG design for new ferry; Weeks wins $7.5 million dredging contract


December 26, 2014—Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) has released a few more details about the new freight and passenger ferry it designed for the Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket Steamship Authority. The ferry will be built at Conrad Shipyard in Morgan City, LA, under a $36.4 million contract. The new ferry, Woods Hole, will replace the M/V Governor, the oldest vessel in the SSA’s fleet.

December 23, 2014—Lockport, LA, based Bollinger Shipyards has announced that Ben Bordelon will assume the duties of Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Ben Bordelon, along with the Chouest family from Galliano, LA, has acquired all assets and stock of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. Mr. Bordelon has served in many capacities during his career at Bollinger, and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2002.

From 1 January 2015, passengers must undergo safety drills, including mustering at the lifeboat stations, before the ship departs or immediately on departure.
New requirements for musters of newly embarked passengers prior to or immediately upon departure come into force on 1 January 2015.
