A Broads charity is seeking fit, experienced and safety conscious keelboat sailors to train as RYA(Royal Yachting Association) Instructors to take its disabled and disadvantaged visitors sailing.
Nancy Oldfield Trust at Neatishead, which offers day boating and holidays to disabled and socially disadvantaged people on and around Barton Broad, needs volunteers at weekends from April to October and also on weekdays during the winter months when weather conditions are suitable.
The Trust sails, three Yeomans, two Falmouth Bass boats, a Randmeer, a Yare and Bure One Design and a Pandora 700.
As well as excellent sailing skills it is looking for volunteers who enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and with widely varying needs and who have the patience and ability to pass on their expertise to novice and improving sailors.
The Trust will provide training in disability awareness, RYA First Aid and the use of hoists. It will also provide RYA Instructor training for a small number of suitable candidates each year in return for a regular commitment to volunteer.
