Winnie the Pooh chooses Broads among favourite simple pleasures!

WinnyPoo

The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads features in a special Winnie-the-Pooh book by Visit England after it was chosen as a favourite ‘Simple Pleasure’ by families.

Visit England asked 2,000 parents to share and celebrate their favourite traditional activities, attractions and days out and boating on the Broads came in at ninth.

An online, beautifully illustrated book featuring the top 25 has now been written to help families organise their adventures around the country.

It forms part of a story around the 25 places explored by Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh and their friends Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga and Roo and describes unspoilt villages and the ‘mystical waterways’ as a haven for rare wildlife. You can read the whole book and find out more here.

Kismet-92d510bd-a1cd-4b19-9208-c4620470c7b8

Three years ago, 26 boats started—and finished—the Transatlantic Race 2011, from Newport, R.I., to the south coast of England. Anticipating greater interest in the Transatlantic Race 2015, race organizers—the Royal Yacht Squadron and New York Yacht Club in association with the Royal Ocean Racing Club and Storm Trysail Club—set an early limit of 50 entries, which now looks to be well exceeded. A particular feature of the 2015 event is its coincidence with the Squadron’s 200th anniversary celebrations and races.
