Rio 2016 – Let the Games Begin

Yesterday at a press conference in Dublin we revealed the sailors that will compete at the ISAF Worlds in Spain from 12-21 September and the IFDS Worlds in Canada from 19-24 August in the hopes of qualifying Ireland for the Rio 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games.

Commodores’ Cup

Congratulations to Team Ireland who have won the Commodores’ Cup with a 174-point winning margin in the nine-team event.

ISA Squads Go International

Another busy week for the ISA Squads internationally. We’ve got 36 sailors competing at the Laser Radial Youth Worlds in Poland, the 420 Worlds in Germany and the Laser 4.7 Europeans in Norway.

Tribal sailed to success at the West Coast Championship hosted by Mayo Sailing Club under the stunning backdrop of Croagh Patrick.

WIM Series

Ellen Cahill and Bella Moorehead are continuing to sail with New Zealand skipper Claudia Pierce for the rest of the Women’s Match Racing Series having been bitten by the bug at the Worlds in RCYC in June.

RS Westerns

98 RS sailors took part in a glorious, if slightly windless, Westerns in Lough Ree comprising of 24 RS400s, 14 RS200s and 11 RS Fevas.

Souffriere from the Royal Irish Yacht Club, owned by Stephen O’Flaherty, narrowly won at the Cowes Regatta on a count back.
