Sailors were rewarded for their patience and hours of onshore preparation with a full day of inconsistent and challenging conditions on Thursday at the 2014 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami. The pressure was on, to complete three to four races per fleet on Thursday to catch up to the desired race totals.

As the 2013/14 GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series reaches its final event this weekend at the Tiger Trophy (Rutland) it is great to see the UK’s top Handicap Winter Series go from strength to strength. Even at this stage entries are up 12% with around 700 boats participating, and record numbers at all the events, some full to capacity. Handicap racing is now very much at the heart of racing, and SailRacer is pleased to playing such an active role with the organisation of the GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series and events, results and number crunching, promotion and GPS Tracking.

Farstad OCVs to be Rolls-Royce DP3 equipped

January 29, 2014—Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with shipbuilding group Vard that will see its latest DP3 dynamic positioning system installed on two new offshore construction vessels on order for Norway’s Farstad Shipping. Classification 3 dynamic positioning systems are the most advanced defined by IMO, and this is the first Rolls-Royce contract for DP3. Vessels constructed to DP3 standards are able to operate in very demanding situations where any loss of position has the potential to result in fatal accidents, severe pollution or damage with major economic consequences.

Sailors Washed Out Of The Bay At ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami

Sailors and their coaches made the most of their down time for the third consecutive day, as rain showers and little breeze put a dampen on the racing outlook on Wednesday. The light air theme so far this week has forced sailors to use their extended onshore hours to acclimate to the conditions and adjust their equipment accordingly.
