IHC Merwede launches first of five pipelayers
September 27, 2013—IHC Merwede has successfully named and launched the pipelaying vessel Sapura Diamante in a ceremony at its shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The 550 t pipelaying vessel—ordered by Sapura Navegação Marítima, a joint venture between SapuraKencana and Seadrill—is the first in a series of five fully integrated offshore vessels that will be completely designed, engineered and built by IHC Merwede.

USCG exercises $250.5 million FRC option with Bollinger
September 26, 2013—The U.S. Coast Guard has exercised a contract option worth $250.7 million with Bollinger Shipyards, Lockport, LA, for the production of six Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutters (FRCs) and deep insurance spares. The six FRCs will be delivered in 2016. The option brings the total number of FRCs under contract with Bollinger to 24 and the total value of the contract (to date) to $1.1 billion.
