Taylor Canfield (ISV) has ended Ian Williams’ (GBR) run at the top of the Open Rankings following two big victories at the Chicago Match Cup, the fourth stop of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour, and at the ISAF Grade 2 US Grand Slam also in Chicago, USA.

The U.S. Virgin Islands match racer is in strong contention for the ISAF World Match Racing World Championship with two Tour events to go and trails now World #2 Williams by nine points on the 2013 leader board.

Stena Match Cup Sweden victor Bjorn Hansen (SWE) stays fourth whilst Australia’s Keith Swinton moves from World #5 to #3 after steady performances in Sweden and USA.

Making a significant climb in this month’s rankings is Australia’s David Gilmour. Victories at the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final in Middelfart, Denmark, an ISAF Grade 1 event and at the Grade 2 International Match Race for the Detroit Cup sees Gilmour climb up to World #14 from #24.

Gilmour overcame host nation favourites Nicolai Sehested in the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final with a 3-0 victory. The Dane remains at World #12.

Having fallen in the last two Open Rankings releases Przemek Tarnacki (POL) makes a climb this month to World #16 from World #38. The Polish match racer won the ISAF Grade 3 Nowe Warpno Match Race in Szczecin Bay, Poland followed by gold at the Gdynia Match Cup, an ISAF Grade 2 regatta to help his progression back up the rankings.

A string of second place finishes for Chris Steele (NZL) at the Governors Cup, Kintec Summer Invitational Match Racing Regatta, US Grand Slam and International Match Race for the Detroit Cup sees Kiwi youngster Chris Steele enter the top 25 for the first time.

Defeating Steele at the Governors Cup was Sam Gilmour (AUS) who shifts up to World #50 from #72 this month.

This month’s biggest climber is another Steele defeater, Ryan Davidson (USA), who overcame the Kiwi at the Kintec Summer Invitational Match Racing Regatta in Vancouver, Canada. The victory moves the American a staggering 84 places up to World #66.

Women’s Rankings

Lucy Macgregor (GBR) reclaimed the World #1 spot in the Women’s Rankings after she finished second at both the New York Women’s Invitational in Oyster Bay, USA and the Lysekil Women’s Match in Sweden.

Macgregor’s performances on the Inaugural Women’s Match Race Series were consistent and culminated in her taking the first title, sealing it with her runners up spot in Lysekil. Her steady run of results also ensured a return to the top of the Women’s Rankings for the first time since 6 July 2011 having played second fiddle to Anna Tunnicliffe (USA) all throughout 2012 and early 2013.

Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen (DEN) put together a run of three consecutive podium finishes in July and August with a second place at the Stena Match Cup Sweden Women’s Trophy in Marstrand, Sweden, a third at the New York Women’s Invitational and a second place at the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final. All three were ISAF Grade 1 events which promotes the Dane up to World #4 from World #22.

Defeating the Dane on her home waters in Middelfart, Denmark at the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final in an epic finale was Brazil’s Juliana Senfft.

Having gone two races down the Brazilian fought back hard to claw the tie level before taking the deciding race to clinch the Nations Cup title and the full points in the ISAF Grade 1 regatta. The result maintains Senfft’s spot at World #12.

Lysekil Women’s Match victor Camilla Ulrikkeholm (DEN) drops out of top spot and into World #2.

Stephanie Roble’s (USA) Stena Match Cup victory and fourth at the New York Invitational moves her up a spot to World #6, a personal best.

Sweden’s Anna Kjellberg took the New York honours to climb from World #8 to World #5, a best ranking to date for the Swede.
