This afternoon the Tour de France a la Voile race committee secured three races –and three opportunities to score– for the M34 fleet just off the beaches of Dunkirk. Franck Cammas’ crew (Groupama 34) won the first two races and Thomas Coville (Sobedo) won the final race of the afternoon. Are Cammas’ competitors waking up?

World’s longest ocean race heading for Marina da Gloria in October 2013

The 2013-14 edition of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is to be hosted by the Marina da Gloria in Rio de Janeiro this October. The port will conclude Leg 1 of the Clipper Race which departs London on 1 September, creating a fitting link between the hosts of the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.

Seadrill-Sapura JV wins $2.7 billion Petrobras contract

June 28, 2013—Seadrill Limited and Malaysia’s SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad announced that their jointly owned entity, Sapura Navegação Marítima S.A., Brazil has been awarded a contract from Petrobras to charter and operate three pipe laying support vessels.The contract is for a period of eight years with an extension option for an additional eight years and is expected to commence by the second quarter of 2016.

The spirit of a Race

– Three inshore races tomorrow (9am departure time at the docks)he 36th Tour de France à la Voile will start in Dunkirk in only two days.

“This practice race had the spirit of a real one,” said a smiley Cammas back on the dock in Dunkirk after Groupama 34’s victory in today’s trial. Today’s event did not count towards the overall ranking and although every team had guests onboard, the 12 M34s sailed the first course of the TFV 2013 as though it counted. round the world, 190 countries (60 in 2012) will relay Tour de France à la Voile footage (news coverage not included). The race will be shown on NBC Sports (USA), TV Asahi (Japan), Sportsnet (Canada), Eurosport International and Asia, ESPN International and more.

The starting gun fired at 3pm. The first upwind mark was set 0.8-miles away under a cloudy sky and 10 knots of breeze from the SW. Ville de Genève Carrefour Addictions rounded the windward mark first, followed by Groupama 34.

Nordic American Tankers Limited (“the Company”) conducted its 2013 Annual General Meeting on June 25, 2013 in Hamilton, Bermuda. The following resolutions were approved:

1. All of the nominees of the Board of Directors were approved to serve until the next Annual General Meeting of Shareholders; and

2. Deloitte AS was approved as the Company’s independent auditors until the close of the next Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

In addition, the Company’s audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2012 were presented at the Meeting.
