SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATION IN BOOT DÜSSELDORF
Boot Düsseldorf is the largest indoor yacht exhibition in Europe. As a major brand, Selene Yachts was, of course, present at this year’s show. We had an eye-catching stand in the Superyacht Hall, where all European dealers were represented. The yard was in contact with many interested parties during the show, which has already resulted in the sale of a beautiful Selene 60 from 2009. In addition, various negotiations are ongoing for possible orders for new builds. Despite the difficult economic times, the Selene Yachts Europe sales team returned home from Düsseldorf in an upbeat frame of mind.

SAR Spotlight Issue 3 Due to Publish

SARSO3

Issue Three of SAR Spotlight is due to publish shortly. This free download eMagazine is expected to publish during the next ten days.

This issue looks at RNLI beach-launched all-weather lifeboats and the introduction of the first of some 50 Shannon Class boats. The exciting Shannon Class introduces new levels of safety and comfort for crew and survivors and will deliver on the RNLI ambition to operate all-weather lifeboat classes that are all capable of 25 knots, a 50% increase in speed over earlier boats. This new class will initially be issued to RNLI stations that launch their lifeboats over open beaches in all weathers. The class will also be issued in due course to those stations that operate afloat from harbours and launch down steep slipways from lifeboat stations built into cliffs and piers.

Round Hainan Regatta – AY Race Report 7

StartingCeremonyHaikou

Round Hainan Regatta – One class starts as the other finishes…
By AsianYachting MultiMedia
28:03:2013 – After another early morning Starting Ceremony, the IRC 1 Classes headed out to sea to start Stage 2 of the Round Hainan Race – the 200nm leg from Haikou back to Sanya Race. Once again the race committee have shortened the course for the six Beneteau Oceanis 40’s down to 110nm before making their own way to Sanya by Friday night. At about the same time down on the East coast, the IRC 2 Classes started on the short and sweet Wanning In-Port race. This is their fourth event of the series and has produced some mixed results, as some boats make a final thrust to secure a podium place. All that remains is for the IRC 2 racers to join the IRC 1 classes at sea during the Wanning to Sanya Race, culminating with the grand presentation and gala dinner on Saturday night. article update 590a254e3879043d 1363442745 9j-4aaqsk

Grounded Cargo Vessel MV Danio

Further to our news release on 16/03/2013, the MV Danio was finally refloated by a large salvage tug and the Titan Salvage team, at approximately 3am this morning (28/03/2013), after grounding there shortly before 5am on Saturday 16 March 2013.. The vessel is now being taken to Blyth, where its cargo of timber logs may be unloaded, and the vessel fully examined to assess the degree of hull damage. The operation is understood to have been carried out smoothly, without the spillage of any pollution at this environmentally sensitive location.

Seahouses RNLI were not involved in the salvage operation. Volunteer Lifeboat crews spent over 20 hours at sea during the early rescue stage of the operation. A Marine Accident Investigation is being carried out, to determine the cause of this incident.

Round Hainan Regatta – AY Race Report 6

IRC1Bspins

Grinding out the results…
By AsianYachting MultiMedia
27:03:2013 – On a gray and misty day, with some chill in the air, the IRC 1 fleet faced the starters orders on the Haikou In-Port races. The 9 to 12 knot breeze has switched to the East North East and a 1 to 2 meter swell has been stirred up, on the race course just outside the harbour limits. The class leaders know its time to consolidate their positions while others down the order realise this is their last chance to make a move and have it stick. While the IRC 2 classes down in Wanning have a lay day, they also are doing some permutations to find out what it takes to improve their placing’s before the In-Port races tomorrow. Under the scoring system, the two races today will be added together and treated as one result in the overall stakes.

Sanya

Sanya to Haikou finishes as Sanya to Wanning starts
By AsianYachting MultiMedia
26:03:2013 – The Round Hainan Race turned into a go stop affair, as the wind speed and direction rotated around the clock. After 38 hours of racing the IRC 1 Classes managed to reach their respective finishing lines on the 270nm Stage 1 Sanya to Haikou during the early hours of this morning. Just as the last boats reached Haikou, the IRC 2 Classes were starting their 100nm Sanya to Wanning Race this morning. Another few more beats by the women drummers and the IRC 2 racers were off, this time around the East coast with a fresh 10 to 12 knot South Easterly breeze to send them on their way. Adam Ng’s Judel Vrolijk 52 Team Shenzhen Apat claimed the daily double in the IRC 1-A Class and after a close tussle between the six Beneteau Oceanis 40’s, Malaysia’s Vincent Chan Siew Onn’s Team Abdullah Chan (Sanya) with their new handicap adjustment managed to correct out in front of the IRC 1-B class.
