ISAF Annual Conference


ISAF Annual Conference

In less than a weeks time the ISA will welcome over 700 of the international sailing fraternity’s key decision makers to Dun Laoghaire for the 2012 ISAF Conference. Hundreds of delegates and observers from 120 nations will attend meetings over a 10 day period where decisions such as choosing the classes for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 will be made.

The ISA bid for the privilege of hosting the ISAF Conference four years ago and has been working hard behind the scenes to organise the event and ensure a warm Irish welcome greets the delegates and their guests.

Student Yachting World Cup


Ireland Sailing Team – UCD welcomed title sponsor ‘Miagen’ this week as they made their final preparations before travelling to La Rochelle in France today for the Student Yachting World Cup.

Racing at the regatta will begin with a practice race on Saturday under the direction of Team Skipper Aidan McLaverty and Team Captain Cathal Leigh Doyle.

India International Regatta


Congratulations to Patrick Crosbie from Royal Cork Yacht Club who this week won the India International Regatta in Chennai in the Laser 4.7 class and even made the headlines in ‘The Hindu’.

Also competing from Ireland were Sarah Cooney (National YC), Chloe Eggers (Royal St George YC) and Mark Bolger (Baltimore SC) who finished in 6th, 7th and 8th respectively. A great regatta overall for the young Irish sailors.

LDYC Freshwater Keelboat Regatta


Beautiful Autumn sunshine greeted the combined fleets of Dragons, SB20’s, Squibs and J80’s on Lough Derg for the Freshwater Keelboat Regatta.

Martin Byrne from the Royal St George Yacht Club took the Dragon title while Ben Duncan won the SB20 Midlands Regatta for the first time. James Matthews from Kinsale is Squib champion and Andrew Deacon won the J80’s with an impressive five race wins.

A 12 race series in Dun Laoghaire for the Sprint Championships provides a fitting climax to a very successful season for the RS classes.
