Ballycotton lifeboat launched to fishing vessel taking in water


A pan pan was issued today, Thursday, 23 August, by a 32 foot fishing vessel 6 miles south of Cork Harbour. The Irish registered vessel with two persons on board was taking in water and requested assistance. Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat was requested to launch. The Cork Harbour pilot boat, Failte, stood by the fishing vessel until the RNLI lifeboat, Austin Lidbury, arrived on scene. Two lifeboat crew members were placed aboard the vessel with a salvage pump. The water intake was brought under control and the fishing vessel was towed into Crosshaven in Cork Harbour.
