At approximately 1.05pm today (Sunday 29 January) Clogher Head RNLI received a call from the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Dublin when it was reported that a man had fallen overboard from a fishing vessel 9 miles east of Clogherhead, County Louth.

Day 3 starts low on wind but ends on high note

30:01:2012 – Light variable wind with a strong incoming current forced PRO Richard Cai to raise AP over H flags, meaning the yachts should return to the marina and wait for further instructions. After a two hour wait the North Easterly breeze strengthened and crews returned to the racing area to prepare themselves for a long afternoon. As the breeze climbed to 14 – 16 knots two three lap windward/leeward races were held, which made up for the mornings disappointment and kept the schedule on track.

Exeter Engineers put the ‘fun’ into fundraising on SOS Day

Around 25 Staff at the Exeter office of international engineering company WPS took part in the RNLI’s biggest fundraising day of the year on Friday 27 January, SOS Day. Volunteers from Exmouth RNLI visited their office to thank them for their generosity.

The first night at sea for the double-handed, Global Ocean Race (GOR) Class40s in Leg 3 was an upwind battle in around 20 knots as the fleet left the shelter of Wellington Harbour following a one-month stopover and hammered out into Cook Strait led by Leg 2 winners, Conrad Colman, and South African skipper, Adrian Kuttel, on their Akilaria RC2, Cessna Citation.
